The classic elegance of L.U.C Chopard, with a contemporary twist and a trace of reasonable exchange… because indeed, watchmaking can also deal with social development and environmental protection. Meet the Chopard L.U.C XPS Twist Qualité Fleurier Fairmined, a slender limited version timepiece reverberating a unique perception of elegance, controlled by a superb micro-rotor development and crafted in ethical pink gold.
The Chopard L.U.C. XPS Twist is an alluring flimsy dress watch with an alternate… twist. Its plan resounds the L.U.C classic elegance, faithfully respecting its distinctive features. However the crown, unusually situated at 4 o’clock, lends the watch its unique character. On the off chance that this asymmetrical situation of the crown isn’t new to Chopard as previous “twist” versions have been released, the comeback of the dial with unique swirled and profound engraved example is in reality a nice touch.
Thanks to its ultra-flimsy caliber (3.3 mm), the Chopard L.U.C XPS Twist is a remarkably slender watch, in spite of its automatic winding mechanism. At 40 mm in width, it wears extremely well. There is great thoughtfulness regarding details throughout: the casebands are vertically glossy silk completed while the bezel and caseback are perfectly polished. The watch bears the Fairmined label, implying that the watch’s gold starts from community-based artisanal and small-scale mining associations developed under the Alliance for Responsible Mining (more details on www.fairmined.org ).
Just like the previous (2015) release, the Chopard L.U.C XPS Fairmined , this dial is the thing that makes this XPS so unique (thus pleasant to the eye). Supposed to be motivated by gold nuggets, it is deeply stepped and afterward galvanized. It features a sophisticated slate-dark color and a nice curve. The gold hands are matching the color of the hour markers and are also made in ethical gold. Compared to the previous version, the hands and files are larger, more “planned” and give the watch a bolder style, which isn’t to baffle us, as the principal release was by one way or another too timid in that field. Never ostentatious, that dial stays the clear attraction of the Chopard L.U.C XPS Twist, but only when closely inspected – when worn, this example is for sure discreet.
The Chopard L.U.C. XPS Twist is fueled by the L.U.C 96.09-L caliber, bearing the Fondation Qualité Fleurier hallmark and is chronometer-certified by the COSC (for more data about these certifications, read our technical perspective here ). This slender automatic development with 22K gold micro-rotor runs at 4 Hz for a force save of 65 hours. Its two coaxial barrels are stacked one on top the other and work in arrangement, to give a more constant energy flow and, for such a slim development, a long force save. As always with L.U.C. calibers, it is superbly gotten done with Geneva stripes, nice anglages on the scaffolds, perlage on the mainplate and polished screw heads – the Qualité Fleurier certification is extremely requesting regarding completing and decoration.
The L.U.C XPS Twist is produced in a limited release of 250 pieces. It is worn on a black alligator lash with alligator lining and pin buckle, which as usual for Chopard, shows an overall exceptionally pleasant quality and perfection. For more data, visit www.chopard.com .
