While the brand A. Lange & Söhne was restored in 1994 (with the launch of a whole assortment, including the notorious Lange 1 ), the principal brand shop just opened in September 2007. This means that this Dresden-based store currently celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, and to pay accolade for 10 years of essence in the great city of Dresden, A. Lange & Söhne have presented a limited edition of the emblematic 1815, with a specifically engraved pivoted “Cuvette” – dust cover or officer back – to make it really special.
Lange opened its first “proprietary” retail location in September 2007, straightforwardly adjacent to the Dresden Frauenkirche, a landmark of the baroque city which was reestablished somewhere in the range of 1994 and 2005. This noteworthy and handsome landmark is hence the star of the demonstration of this watch, as it is engraved on the caseback of the new 1815 limited edition. To be sure, a rare fact at Lange, is that the back (at least first and foremost) didn’t display the development, yet in this case a “Cuvette” is placed on the converse side of the watch. In any case, on the off chance that you are an admirer of developments, there’s no drama (nor any great shock), as this caseback is surely an alleged “dust cover” or “officer back”, meaning that it very well may be opened thanks to a pivot – a framework that is suggestive of antique pocket watches.
This Limited Edition of the A. Lange & Söhne 1815 for the 10th birthday of the main Lange Boutique remains valid, its back side apart, to the model we’ve known for several years at this point. Available in 10 pieces in white gold and 10 pieces in pink gold, it is as yet based on the 38.5mm case. Indeed, even with its twofold “Cuvette” back, it remains relatively thin – the thickness has hitherto not yet been affirmed by Lange, anyway the standard adaptation measures 8.8mm. We can expect this residue cover to add one millimeter. The silver dial is also identical to the classical variants, with the clear and functional white dial, with black Arabic numerals and blued hands, and the small second counter at 6.
The caseback, when opened, reveals the well-known hand-wound caliber L051.1. This magnificently decorated development (gold chatons with blued screws, 3/4 plate in German silver, heavenly hand-engraving on the rooster connect, cleaned steel parts, slanted angles…) offers 55h of force save and operates at a 3Hz recurrence. This basic yet heavenly development is obviously totally manufactured in-house, in Glashütte, Germany.
As said, this Limited Edition of the A. Lange & Söhne 1815 is a 20 piece limited edition (10 in white gold, 10 in pink gold). Cost to be affirmed – the standard 1815 is estimated at 21,700 Euro, so anticipate that close should 25,000 Euro for this “Cuvette” adaptation. More details on www.alange-soehne.com .
